The Rotary Club of Port Fairy held a very successful Open Gardens Day on Sunday 20th November 2016 which raised $5,754 for the Bandari Project to assist the building and maintenance of school facilities in the Tanzanian town of Mto Wambu.
 
Run in conjunction with the Bandari Committee, Rotarian, Margaret Whitehead, organised nine gardens to be open in Port Fairy's iconic "Albert Road" district. In all, some 174 patrons visited the gardens on the day which was blessed with fantastic weather. In all, $4,350 was raised by ticket sales supplemented by $952 for a raffle with plants and produce sales together with donations, raised a further $452.
 
An afternoon tea on offer at Korongah House was included in the entry price.  All up some 24 volunteers assisted on the day.
