The Rotary Club's Exchange student, Lisa van Someren, recently filed a report in response to Rotarian, Harry Bracegirdle's enquiries on her progress in Canada.  Lisa had recently travelled  by car with her host family from Ontario Canada to Florida in the USA.  The trip took 2 days by car!  In Florida, Lisa visited beaches and various theme parks.

Here is her emailed update including recent activities in her "home town" of Woodstock in Ontario.

Hi Harry,

Yes most of the snow has now melted. It is also starting to get a little bit warmer with the weather being around 0 to 10 degrees.

The drive to Florida was very long. It took us two days to get there being about 23 hours of driving all up.

The trip was fantastic though. We spent a lot of time at the beach and in the pool. The weather wasn't the best but it was still pretty warm compared to here (in Canada). For one day we went on a water taxi to see Hollywood, Florida. While on the water taxi we also saw a lot of very very big expensive mansions along the waterfront. Another day we went on an airboat tour and got to see a lot of wild alligators up close. That was really cool too.

Then we went spent two days at Disney World. We went to two theme parks. The Magical Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. There we did heaps and went on lots of roller coasters and rides. It was so much fun but there was so many people. We even had to wait in line for nearly two hours to go on one of the roller coasters. It was worth it though, it was fantastic.

This weekend just gone, I went to Mississauga in Canada with the other exchange students. It was really fun. We went hiking at three different waterfalls one day. Then the next day we played laser tag and whirlyball. Whirlyball is like a combination of bumper cars and polo cross. It was hard to start with but it was great fun. We also had a paint night where a lady, step by step got us to paint the Toronto skyline. The weekend was fantastic and so much fun.

Regards
Lisa
