The Rotary Club's Guest Speaker at its meeting on 20th March was Joan Hose from Moyne Health Services (MHS).
Joan recently took over the administration of the Meals on Wheels (MOWs) program and gave an insight into the program and the valuable work that all volunteers undertake for MHS.
Rotarian are regularly rostered onto the MOWs calendar taking a week-ling booking every second month.
After an interesting talk, Joan answered a number of key questions about the MOWs program including the recent move to have NDIS certifications for volunteers, the value MOWs clients place on the visits by volunteers - more often than not the MOWs volunteer may be their only contact during the day, so this human contact is just as important as getting a nourishing meal.
In her discussion, Joan identified the longevity of service by some local volunteers with the longest server being our very own, Maureen Beattie, who has done 33 years of continuous service!
