The Moyne Shire Council had previously removed older cypress trees at the Reserve and the planting saw the area revegatated with Blackwoods, Sheoaks, Acacias, and Manna Gums.

The work was part of an on-going program to assist the Shire in revegatating parts of Port Fairy.
