Hello fellow Rotarians,

We as a club have concluded many weeks of varied activities within and outside of Rotary.    Several members witnessed the opening of Rotary House in Warrnambool in which all district Rotary clubs can be justifiably proud.

Members have also attended functions in Port Fairy these last few weeks:  Lions Cup Eve Dinner, Community House AGM and the Year-6 graduation evenings from both St Patrick’s and Consolidated Schools.   Members also attended the Port Fairy Fire Brigade Annual Dinner and Presentation Night.

Our recent fundraising events have been very successful and well supported by members.   The Trivia Night, organised by Harry and Diana Bracegirdle, was a lot of fun and they must be congratulated for their input to the night.

The Open Garden Day was a mighty effort and could not have happened without all Rotarians helping on the day, and I personally thank the club for all the support I was given .  Geoff Coxall has organised our annual participation in the car raffle, and the ticket selling has gone smoothly.  We are now into our summer events, including the Painting Raffle with the main prize again being kindly donated by Wilma Preston.  Wilma also donated a lovely painting for our garden day.

We are planning for the Backwards-running Race and Sausage Sizzle on New Year’s Eve, so thanks to all helping out.  A film night later in January will be held with funds going towards Peter’s Project.

We are very happy that James Mclean is representing Port Fairy at RYLA, and I feel sure he will do very well and represent us well.  Following the recent disaster in the Philippines we voted to donate money to another Shelter Box and I am pleased to advise that this has now been purchased.

A new road sign was added on to the existing Rotary Sign on Woodbine Road which signifies Rotary’s efforts in keeping the road tidy.  As part of this initiative a working bee was recently held to pick-up litter from the sides of the road.  We are also planning for a Meals-on-Wheels session later in January.

I advise that there is still a need to fill position of Secretary in the 2014/15 year so please consider if you can fill that role.

Finally, I would like to wish all our members a very happy and safe Christmas and New Year.
