Hello Rotarians

The holiday period is coming to an end and our Rotary meetings are about to resume.  I hope you all had a great holiday period with family and friends.

I thank all those people who helped with the sale of raffle tickets, cooking the BBQ for the Youth Council Day, assisting Friends of Moyneyana House with their Summer Fair, assisting with Meals on Wheels and making up the teams in the Corporate Bowls.  January was Rotary Awareness Month so all these activities put a face to Rotary, particularly with our marquee at the busy summer markets.

February is World Understanding Month when Rotarians should give thought to those outside our immediate community and the hardships they are experiencing – the bushfires in Victoria and Tasmania and the floods in Queensland.  In the District Governor’s recent newsletter I noted the Shelter Boxes being used to assist those in the Tasmanian bushfires.

During February we have the Rotary Caravan Group visiting Port Fairy and staying at the Big 4 Caravan Park.  There are 76 in their group, so I ask members to support our joint meeting with them on Thursday 14th February at the Victoria Hotel.  This will be a partner’s night and a guest speaker has been arranged.  The cost for the joint dinner meeting is $20 per head for 2 course meal.  Please note that as a consequence of the joint meeting on the Thursday we will not meet on Monday 11th February.

I look forward to catching up with you all when our Dinner meetings resume at the Star of the West on 4th February.
