The Rotary Club of Port Fairy presented a “Pride of Workmanship Award” to Moyne Gazette reporter, Anthony Brady, at its Dinner Meeting held at the Star of the West Hotel on Monday evening, 3rd December 2012.

Anthony Brady receives is AwardSpeaking about the award, Rotarian John Ellard, said that the Pride of Workmanship Award is handed out from time-to-time in recognition of a person or groups contribution to the community or to a business activity.

In presenting the award, John said it was a popular vote among to members of the Club to recognise the excellent work that Anthony Brady does for the community and the professionalism he brings to the Moyne Gazette.  Above all, it was Anthony’s untiring support of local service groups, like the Rotary and Lions clubs as well as other community organisations in the region, which was acknowledged.  In this regard John thanked him for his commitment to these important groups.

John highlighted Anthony Brady’s transition from working in both Nestles and Murray Goulburn dairying industries, where he started the Koroit Times, to becoming a reporter with the Moyne Gazette.

In accepting the award Anthony said that his only early association with Port Fairy was to travel from his home town of Koroit to witness their annual footy clash with Port Fairy at the Gardens Oval (one they invariably won!) but now, having worked for over four years out of the Port Fairy office of the Gazette, he had come to appreciate just how unique the community spirit is in Port Fairy and what makes it such a good town.  Anthony also recognised that the success of the Moyne Gazette was a team effort and particular praised his office companion, Martina Murrihy.

He thanked the Rotary Club for the award and congratulated them on the good work the Club does in the community.
