Progressive Dinner raises funds for Muscular Dystrophy
The Rotary Club of Port Fairy held a very successful Progressive Dinner on 17th May to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Australia (MDA).
$895 was raised at the event, which was supplemented by Club funds, to make up a cheque of $1,000 presented to MDA at the Club's Dinner meeting on 19th May.
31 Rotarians and guests attended a three course meal beginning with starters at the home of John and Heather Clue before moving onto Margaret Broer's residence for main courses and finally to John and Marea Ellard's for sumptious desserts.
A good time was had by all culminating in the drawing of raffle prizes from donations made by Darriwill Farm in Warrnambool.
Special guests included Barbara and Ken Eldridge. It was Barbara, a member of the Rotary Club of Mortlake but a regular visitor to Port Fairy, who suggested that a fundraiser be held to support Muscular Dystrophy Australia. Other guests included Henry and Jeanette Toller-Bond from the Lions club of Port Fairy-Belfast.
President, Hester Woodrup, thanked all who attended and especially those Rotarians that opened up their homes for the event.
A cheque for $1,000 was presented to the Executive Director of Muscular Dystrophy Australia, Boris Struk, when he addresses the Rotary Club at its meeting on 19th May 2014 which included members and guests from the Rotary clubs of Port Fairy and Mortlake. In addition, Christine Eldridge from Mortlake made a cheque presentation to Boris to help supplement the Port Fairy donation.
