The Rotary Club's annual Trivia Night was held at the Star of the West Hotel last night where 79 people enjoyed a good meal, good friendship and lots of fun in answering a host of questions compiled by Quizmaster - Pauline McDonald.

The winning team was the Port Fairy CWA, called "Clever Wise  Academics", led by Jenny Grenfell that amassed 50 points over six rounds and just beat Marg Whitehead's "Girls plus One" team on 48 points.  Michael Crowe's team, named "Misfits", finished an honourable third with 48 points.

Teams had to nominate a "double points" round whereby their score for that round earned an equivalent number of bonus points.  Without the double-points bonus the result would have been the same with scores from answered questions being 42, 41 and 41 respectively for the first three placegetters.  (Click link to download a copy of the final scores - Download Final Scores).

In all, the winning team, who also took out the half-way leader award, took home prizes - made up of goods and vouchers - exceeding $800 resulting from generous donations from a variety of local sponsors/suppliers.

The Club also held a successful raffle on the night with the first prize being a $200+ hamper of goods assembled by Jill Gleeson from donations made by Club members as well as a Folk Festival ticket donated by the Port Fairy Folk Festival Committee.

The  net proceeds from the Trivia Night are yet to be finalised but  expected to be around $700. The night was greatly enhanced by the attendance of 12 members of the Rotary Club of Warrnambool, a table made up from the Lions Club in Port Fairy and, of course, the winning team from the Port Fairy CWA.  The Club is also grateful for all the friends of club members who came along to the event.

Finally, thanks to all who attended, our sponsors, the officials - Pauline McDonald, Jill Gleeson and Diana Bracegirdle, the raffle ticket sellers - Brett Murray and John Ellard and all those Rotarians who donated goods for the raffle.
