The Rotary Club of Port Fairy again provided valuable support to the annual Murray-to-Moyne Relay Cycle Race by carrying out all the BBQing duties to feed the hungry cyclists and support personnel on arrival in Port Fairy after two days of hard riding from various townships along the Murray River.

This year, a few local Rotarians also had prominent roles with the race, not the least being Rotary's President-Elect, Hester Woodrup.  Hester's late husband Graham Woodrup was tragically killed on his bike many years ago and it was from this incident that the idea of the Murray-to-Moyne was founded with the annual race being named in his honour.

Rotarian John Clue, also part of the Murray-to-Moyne organising Committee, was very much involved in the pre-race publicity and, along with Hester, shared the dais with Premier and Member for the South West Coast, Denis Napthine, during the presentations to riders on the Port Fairy Railway Green on Sunday 7th April. Staunch Rotarian and cycling fanatic, Jeff McLean, was also part of the race organisation before lending his hand to BBQing duties later on the Sunday morning.

The race, involving over 1300 riders, regularly raises in excess of $1M for hospitals and other medical services across the state.  The Rotary Club of Port Fairy is always proud to support this very worthy cause.
