The Rotary Club of Port Fairy received substantial grant funding from the Port Fairy Folk Festival in December 2014.
In all, three projects were supported with support for building a kindergarten in Tanzania, a "chook house" in Cambodia as well as funding to purchase twi defibrillators for the Port Fairy township.

The Folk Festival Committee provided $6,000 for the kindergarten in the Mto Wambu village in Tanzania, $1,200 for a chook house in the  Taksenkangbloung Community Centre in Cambodia and $1,650 towards two defibrillators.

The Rotary Club is very grateful for the support from the Folk Festival Committee that provides invaluable financial support to community groups in Port Fairy and surrounds.

Rotarian, Geoff Coxall, along with local Port Fairy identity, Seif Sakate - whose grew up in Mto Wambu - will be leading a party of around 11 Rotarians and others on a trip to Tanzania in April 2015.  During that trip they will help build the kindergarten in Seif's home village.

The Rotary Club is also collecting shoes for distribution to children in the Mto Wambu village.  With the help of local schools and kindergarten dozens of shoes have been donated which will help the children on Mto Wambu on their daily trek to school.

Seif (pictured below) and his wife Catherine, recently spoke at the Rotary Dinner Meeting to thank the members for their support.
