Members of the Rotary Club of Port assisted other community members on tree planting duties on National Tree Day on 29th July.

A tree planting session, organised by Richard Hodgens from the the Moyne Shire Council, resulted in over 200 trees being planted at the Russell Clark Reserve in the Port Fairy Wetlands area.

The 5 Rotarians who attended  - John Clue, Alan Rasmussen, Harry Bracegirdle, Kevin Matthews, Brendan Donahoo, assisted by Brendan's Father-in-law, Malcolm Needham - first did some reparation work on trees they planted in the Reserve last year by replacing a few that had subsequently died then assisted with new plantings on the north side of the Reserve.

The new plantings proved to be hard work as the ground was littered with many buried rocks but hopefully most of the trees planted will take root and survive.
