Visit of the Rotary Recreational Vehicles Fellowship
The Rotary Club of Port Fairy held a joint meeting on 14th February 2013 with the Rotary Recreational Vehicles Fellowship who were visiting Port Fairy in the week commencing 11th February.
The local club also put on a BBQ for the visitors at the Big-4 Caravan Park on Saturday 16th February.
The joint meeting was held at the Victoria Hotel in Port Fairy and, as the visitors numbers some 78 people, it was a big night for the local club.
President, Margaret Whitehead, welcomed the visitors to Port Fairy and the RRCF Chairman, Bill Elmslie and organiser Don Kelly, reciprocated with an outline of their activities in their week-long stay in Port Fairy.
Local historian, Judith Kershaw, was the guest speaker and gave an insight into the early history of Port Fairy / Belfast and some of the characters who helped pioneer settlement in the region.
The BBQ held at the Big-4 Caravan Park on Saturday 16th February was a good fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Port Fairy which raised approximately $700 in catering for the 78 visitors and guests. A big thank-you to President Marg for organising this and the people that donated salads for the BBQ. A special mention to Jim Robinson, Hester Woodrup and Harry Bracegirdle who did the cooking aided by Marg Whithead and Marg Broers in setting up the food. The visitors expressed their appreciation of the effort put in and donated an extra $100 above the negotiated cost for the the catering.
